Overview: Rochester Electronics created their own comic-book hero to raise awareness about the dangers of counterfeited antique chips. When they wanted to bring him to life on-screen, they contacted Hatchling. By combining our own aesthetic and sense of timing with Rochester’s vision for the character, Hatchling created an eye-catching and fun piece for trade shows and conferences.

Creative: Hatchling’s artists gave Captain Rochester a simpler, more streamlined design than his comic-book counterpart, and put him in a bright, vivid world. The pacing of the animation was kept quick and lively and the motion was given a fun bounce, making the piece eye-catching and engaging.

Technical: Hatchling developed a special rigging system to allow the Captain to squash and stretch like classic 2D cartoons, adding to his fun, playful feel. The soft visual style used simple textures and clever lighting, helping Hatchling deliver the project in a short turn around time.
