Forensic Files
Project: JFK Assassination 3D Re-Creation
Agency: Medstar
Running Time: 18 animations, 3 minutes
Overview: Working with the Graphics and Production team at Forensic Files, Hatchling Studios re-created the JFK assassination in 3D. The animation explored the historic last moments of John F. Kennedy and his assassination from several different camera angles, offering multiple views of Forensic Files' stunning new evidence.
Creative: In order to focus the attention on the two shooting victims, while at the same time keeping the animation from being too difficult to watch, Hatchling developed simple, boldly colored characters to act as Kennedy, Conally, and Oswald. In the shots focused on the "magic" bullet's trajectory, we ghosted or excluded all unnecessary or distracting elements.
Technical: Using blueprints, police sketches, the Zapruder film, videos, books, and other reference materials, Hatchling created scale versions of Dealy Plaza and the Presidential limo. The animations were created with a 24 fps frame rate to match the Zapruder film.
